In the game you learn Abilities every three level ups, (9, 12, 15 etc...) or you recieve them throughout the game. To equip an Ability, press Start and go down to Abilities, then select a character and the Ability(ies) you would like to equip. But be careful, you only have a certain amount of AP to use on Abilities (AP can be increased with Level ups, AP Ups or Accessories).
If you don't want a certain ability equipped, then you can easily remove it and get the AP the ability required back. This can then be used to equip a different Ability.
Some Abilities require MP to use so keep that in mind when using ones like Ars Arcanum. Sora's Abilities differ slightly depending on the first Weapon you picked in the beginning.

Goofy has plenty of Abilities so he learns one every 3 Level ups, like Sora. Use them wisely though, he may have lots of AP but he doesn't have much MP to use attacks like Rocket.

Shared Abilities can be equipped without using AP, and can be used multiple times without using MP.
'Shared' means that the whole party can use them, Goofy, Donald, even characters like Aladdin and Ariel.

 Mermaid Kick  Press O while in water to have Sora kick out powerfully to swim faster, even through very fast currents. (When at Atlantica press O twice to swim very fast).  Defeat Ursula I.
 Glide
 Press O to jump, (or fall off a high ledge) and then hold down O to descend slowly while moving forward. (When at Neverland, you don't have to hold O down to Glide, just tap it once (while in the air). You are also in complete control; you can go up and down, left and right without descending).  Complete Neverland.
 Super Glide  Press O to jump, (or fall off a high ledge) and then hold down Square to descend slowly while moving forward very fast. (When at Neverland, you don't have to hold Square down to Super Glide, just tap it once (while in the air). You are also in complete control; you can go up and down, left and right without descending).  Defeat Chernabog at the End of the World.

Temporary Party Members

Temporary Party Members are some of the characters you meet along Sora's journey. You can put them in your party, but you don't always have to.
They can only join you however, as long as you are in their world. For example, you can can have Peter Pan in your party, but you can't have Peter in Wonderland.
Switching is easy, go to a Save Point and select Save, then Party Members and switch your party around. You can only have a maximum of three in your party though,
so if you want Tarzan in your party, you'll need to switch him with Goofy or Donald.
